Restaurant to Surprise Fans Who Share Their Inspirational Stories
After being part of a moving Valentine’s Day surprise, Smoothie King of Nashville is excited to announce a new fan appreciation promotion that will reward those with amazing stories and a love for smoothies.
A few days before Valentine’s Day, Smoothie King of Nashville received a Facebook message from Jennifer Carter of Jacksonville, Fl. The message told the story of her sister who lives near Ft. Campbell with her husband, First Lieutenant Jake LaGue, who is stationed at the base, and is scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan later this year. Her sister Samantha, who is 20 weeks pregnant with the couple’s first child, is miles away from her family and friends. With hopes of delivering a special Valentine’s gift, Carter asked in the message if the West End location of Smoothie King would consider delivering Samantha her go to pregnancy craving, the Pineapple Surf Smoothie, as a Valentine’s Day gift and a present to celebrate the half-way mark of her pregnancy.
Smoothie King gladly accepted and made the day an even bigger celebration by delivering free smoothies to all of Samantha’s co-workers as well.
“We had such an amazing time planning and taking part in the surprise that when we left the event and collected our thoughts, we all agreed that we could not wait to do this again,” said Owner Paul McCulloch, Smoothie King of Nashville. “I pulled together some of our managers and our marketing team, and we put our heads together on how we could select a person or group to surprise with smoothies each quarter, highlighting a special accomplishment, or life milestone.”
So the week of May 14, we will surprise someone special with his or her favorite smoothie. Beginning today, we will begin taking nominations for the “Surprise Smoothie” award, and will select the next winner one week prior to the May 14 reveal.
“Samantha and Jake are making a tremendous sacrifice. They are not only living away from their families, but also they will bring a beautiful baby girl into the world this summer, and Jake will fight for our country in Afghanistan,” said McCulloch. “This couple and their loving family showed us what life was all about on Friday, life’s special moments. We so enjoyed watching the two of them smile, and cannot wait to do it again for another deserving person.”

Military Mommy-To-Be’s Craving Feeds More than 40
Smoothie King of Nashville made Valentine’s Day extra special for a Military mommy-to-be, and her husband, First Lieutenant Jake LaGue, who is scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan this year. Smoothie King of Nashville surprised Samantha LaGue with her go to pregnancy craving, the Pineapple Surf Smoothie.
Samantha is a military wife who left her family in Jacksonville, Fl., two years ago to move with her husband, Jake, who is stationed at Ft. Campbell. Samantha, who is 20 weeks pregnant with the couple’s first child, celebrated hitting the half way mark in her pregnancy on Valentine’s Day. Samantha and her husband do not have any family in Middle Tennessee, and when Samantha’s sister, Jennifer Carter, who lives in Jacksonville along with their parents, and Samantha’s in-laws, realized that this milestone would fall on Valentine’s Day, she wanted to do something special for her sister from miles away.
Jennifer sent a Facebook message to Smoothie King of Nashville, and asked if they would help her send a hug and her sister’s favorite pregnancy craving, the Pineapple Surf Smoothie, to her sister at work on Valentine’s Day. The company, who does not deliver, read her story, and as soon as they saw Samantha was a military wife, they jumped at the chance to make her day special.
“I read the message, and then read it again to confirm I was reading it right,” said Smoothie King of Nashville Owner, Paul McCulloch. “We have never received a request to deliver a smoothie, but reading her story, we wanted to provide this young lady with something that would not only make her and the baby feel good, but also it was something we could do to help her family do something special from miles away in honor of her and her husbands sacrifice for our country.”
So the plan was put into action, and over two days, with the help of Samantha’s office scheduling a “fake meeting” for her on Valentine’s Day, First Lieutenant Jake LaGue making arrangements to come down to Nashville to be at the special delivery, and Smoothie King of Nashville arranging their West End location to not only prepare a large Smoothie for the mommy-to-be and get the truck ready to go on its first delivery, but also prepare smoothies for all of Samantha’s co-workers in honor of Samantha, her husband’s service to our country, and Valentine’s Day. Samantha’s family even ordered flowers from Emma’s flowers, which ironically is the name of the soon-to-be LaGue baby, Emma Caroline, scheduled to be born on, of course, July 4, 2014. Already an All-American baby!
